We are all shocked by the scenes of death and destruction as the result of the earthquake that hit southern Türkiye and Syria. More than 45,000 persons have been killed and literally millions have been displaced due to the damage caused by the earthquake and aftershocks.
In the past, Northern Virginia residents and businesses have been extremely generous in helping those in need.
Whether it was the crisis of Syrian refugees fleeing the civil war in their home country or to help the citizens of Ukraine suffering from the invasion of their country by Russia – Northern Virginia has stepped up.
The biggest need right now in the earthquake zone is shelter and food.
That is why we are pleased to work with a trusted partner, Embrace Relief, to help purchase food for those in need. We previously worked with Embrace Relief on the effort to assist Syrian refugees in Turkey. Embrace Relief has contracted with a firm in Türkiye to provide food for distribution to the victims of this natural disaster.
Initial funds raised from this effort have already led to the distribution of food. Thank you.
Your contribution of $45 helps purchase a 30-pound package of food that will be distributed to those in need. Donations are tax deductible.
We have been asked on more than one occasion about the donation of blankets, coats, etc. The feedback we have received is that shelter and food are the number one priority.
We thank you for your consideration of this request.
